Immortails of Egypt: Slot Overview

Modern people might love their pets, but few put cats on a pedestal quite like the Ancient Egyptians did. If you've played a few Ancient Egyptian-themed slots, you'll probably be familiar with the cat-headed god Bastet, and they were seen to bring good luck to their owners - some were even mummified when they died. Apparently, they were so revered back then that killing a cat, even by accident, could result in a death sentence. If you're someone who holds moggies in such high esteem, then Immortails of Egypt from Play'n GO could well be the game for you. Immortails of Egypt pays homage to cats while offering tumbling wins, wild transformations, plus free spins with expanding wilds and a progressive win multiplier.

It wouldn't be a surprise to learn there are one or two cat people on the Play'n GO team because the studio has turned on the charm to design Immortails of Egypt. The game is jam-packed with animations, adorable touches, and of course, cute kitties. It's played from a cat's eye view looking up at a 5-reel, 3-row game grid, bordered by columns with balls of twine on them, while more hieroglyphed columns make up the background. Hit the spin button, and the grid empties, and for a few moments, even more cats can be seen in alcoves behind where the symbols land. If you like cute, cuddly games full of house pets, Immortails of Egypt pulls hard on the heartstrings.

Immortails of Egypt might not be so cute and cuddly when viewed as a straight gambling tool; its medium/high volatile math model can provide plenty of thrills and spills. The game is playable on any device, offering stakes of 10 p/c to £/€100 per spin, and uses a connecting paylines system for awarding wins. How it works is that matching symbols create wins when they are touching horizontally or diagonally in adjacent reels starting from the leftmost side.

Pay symbols are pretty catty, too, though they start with 10-A card ranks as the low-value symbols worth 1-1.2x the bet for a five-of-a-kind win. Next are the higher value lot, consisting of a ball of yarn, Egyptian objects, snakes, and three cats at the top of the table. Landing a five-symbol winning line of premiums is worth a payout of 2-6 times the stake.

Immortails of Egypt: Slot Features

The first step in winding up some of Immortails of Egypt's features is the tumbling wins mechanism. Whenever a winning line hits, the symbols involved in it are removed from the game board. New symbols drop in, and if another win is created, then the tumble feature triggers again.

Consecutive tumbling wins also turn the three cat premium symbols into Cat God Wilds in a progressive manner:

  • The first tumble turns the black cat wild
  • 3 consecutive tumbles turn the brown cat wild
  • 6 consecutive tumbles turn the white cat wild.

In addition, if a snake symbol lands next to a wild cat symbol, it is transformed into a wild symbol as well. When a tumble sequence ends, any transformed Cat God Wild symbols return back to their normal non-wild state for the next new spin.

Free Spins
Landing 3 scatter symbols awards 8 free spins. For free spins, an extra row of symbols is added to the game board, and a progressive win multiplier comes into play. For every third consecutive winning tumble, the multiplier increases by +1. When the tumbling ends, the multiplier resets back to x1 for the next free spin. Also, random reels are framed by blue lights. If a wild symbol lands on a selected reel, it expands to cover all positions.

Immortails of Egypt: Slot Verdict
Immortails of Egypt is like a cat with a very capricious disposition. Similarly to Pragmatic's Cleocatra slot, the game pulled us in with its cuteness-overflow, all adorable cats hanging off walls, peering over the game grid, or staring big-eyed at the audience. Then the action began, and once the adorableness had diminished through familiarity, a less playful reality set in. Kind of like being a new pet owner, taking a kitten home for the first time where it starts scratching the sofa, pooing and peeing everywhere - the getting to know its personality stage. Pass through that phase, though, and there's a chance of developing a solid relationship with all the ups and downs that entails.

What this meant in Immortails of Egypt is a base game of wild transformations through tumbles or wilds hitting next to snake symbols via the connecting paylines systems, which can be a blessing and a curse at times. There are technically more ways to link wins compared to a standard set of paylines, perhaps, but less so than on a pure ways system. Just an observation here, by the way, not a criticism, as using the connecting paylines method might technically have meant the game is able to inject more wild symbols into the fray.

Immortails of Egypt came together well in free spins, where tumbles leading to wild transformations, potentially triggering full reel wilds, and increasing the win multiplier could produce surprisingly good outcomes. It's worth noting that the win multiplier resets between free spins, so the bonus game can be volatile, each free spin being a rather blow-up or not experience. Anyhoo, get those moggies doing their thing, and Immortails of Egypt can produce wins of up to 10,000x the bet.

Like a real-life cat, Immortails of Egypt has times when it's cuddly, times when it just doesn't want to sit on your knee and other times when it wants to scratch you in the eyes. For cat lovers, giving Immortails of Egypt a go should be an easy decision, but it's also got the goods to thrill Ancient Egyptian fans too, or general players looking for an endearing mix of tumbles, wild transformations, and multipliers.
