Wild Blood 2: Slot Overview

The original Wild Blood was an atmospheric Vampiric romp released by Play’n GO way back in 2013. For whatever reason, the team decided it was time for a remake. Fans will be thrilled to see three feisty femme Fatales return in the sequel. They look a lot edgier this time and have had a modern makeover compared to the original characters. In a twist, the vampire of the game has gone the other way. He looks more old fashioned this time, with more than a touch of the 18th century Lestat de Lioncourt about him. Wild Blood wasn’t exactly a huge hit for Play’n GO, so it is interesting to see them do a belated sequel. Never one to turn down damsels in distress, or a solid vampire slot, let’s see what it has got.

Visually, things have moved on from the original. You’d expect that after a seven-year hiatus though. The first slot that springs to mind is Immortal Romance rather than the original Wild Blood. It was almost inevitable that the comparisons to that slot would be made. Since Immortal Romance was released, it seems to have become the de facto benchmark for vampire slots. Changes are apparent with the game grid which has been expanded from 5 to 6 reels. An extra row has also been added bumping the total win ways up from 15 to 4,096. To get started players select bet levels from 20 p/c up to £/€100 per spin. Manual and auto-spins are naturally on hand.

Winning combinations are formed by 3-6 of the same symbol on a win way. There are 10 base game pay symbols to create winners. Low pays are card royals 9 – A which look a little, ahem, Immortal Romance-ish. These are followed by skulls and daggers on the mid-table. The premiums are the three ladies who look strategically chosen to cater to most male types. We get red-haired, raven-haired, and blonde heroines named Laura, Margaret, and Rebeca. Each is worth the same reward of 7.5 times the stake for six of a kind. Overall symbol values are relatively low, which kind of makes sense given the medium volatility. A 5 rating from Play’n GO. It’s the kind of game that favours small and steady over massive and intense. RTP is ever so slightly higher than the original on 96.18%. You might run across this slot with a lower RTP of 94.14% so as always, check the paytable first.

Wild Blood 2: Slot Features
There are several good features on hand, some that require player input. First up is the dashing vampire wild which appears as a 1x1 tile on reels 2, 3, 4, and 5. The vampire wild can substitute for any other symbol in the game except the scatter. The wild can also appear on the sixth reel, and when it does, it comes stacked. Not only that but when it lands stacked on the sixth, it triggers the Vampire Bat Respin. This feature consists of one respin and the stacked wild is moved to the first reel for it. Vampire Bat Respins cannot be retriggered, nor can free spins come from it.

The vial of blood symbol is the scatter which can land on any reel. When 3, 4, 5, or 6 land they award 10,15, 20, or 25 Bloodlust Free Spins respectively. For this feature, players get to choose one of three options:

Laura: Every wild that lands spreads one position either up or down. If Vampire Bat Respins are triggered during this option then all Laura symbols on reels 2, 3, 4, and 5 turn wild for the Respin.
Margaret: The round includes a win multiplier, and every time a wild lands it gets collected. When four wilds have been scooped up, the multiplier increases by +1 and adds 2 free spins. The multiplier maxes out at x5. When the multiplier is increased, the new amount applies to the following spins. If the Vampire Bat Respin is triggered, it turns all Margaret symbols on reels 2, 3, 4, and 5 wild for that respin.
Rebecca: Each wild during the round comes with a multiplier of x2 or x3. When more than one land, their multipliers can be combined up to a maximum of x81. If a Vampire Bat Respin is triggered during this feature, then the Rebecca symbols on reels 2, 3, 4, and 5 also turn wild for that spin.

If you pick Margaret, keep in mind that the scatter is removed during that round. For Laura and Rebecca, the scatter is present and can retrigger those rounds. If 2, 3, 4, 5, or 6 scatters land, they award an additional 4, 6, 8, 10, or 12 respective free spins.

Wild Blood 2: Slot Verdict
Players will naturally compare the Wild Blood 2 slot both to its predecessor and Immortal Romance. While it is an upgrade over part 1, it is fundamentally different to Immortal Romance and will suit a different kind of gambler. There were some aspects of the original that fans might miss such as the picking game, and the chance to retrigger respins. Apart from that, Wild Blood 2 is a much slicker, more modern slot. It also offers better potential as well with up to 5,000 times the stake on offer. The solid, standard you’d expect from a Play’n GO release.

Wild Blood 2 isn’t a bad slot. It’s got a bunch of interesting features, and experimenting with different free spin options prolongs the longevity. Players who like to flirt with the dark side may get something out of it. But with medium volatility, it’s missing the bite that could have made it a truly savage vampire slot. Still, the potential of the slot is fine, but that game setting might ultimately make hardcore gamers pause before heading out into the night.
