Coywolf Cash: Slot Overview

As the year draws to an end, developers Play’n GO seemingly refuse to take a break. They have released a flurry of titles over the past few weeks. And on the whole, the quality has been high. Coywolf Cash is a North American nature slot, full of wildlife and Native American culture. Fans of these types of games have had a standout year with plenty of slots featuring eagles, buffalo, deserts and tumbleweeds coming their way. The latest is Coywolf Cash which is packed with all the familiar sights and sounds you’d expect to find. This is a well-worn theme so let’s see Coywolf Cash has any tricks to spring.

The first is the title. A bit of research revealed that Coywolf isn’t a made-up word. Coywolves exist and are a mixed breed, descended from a blend of coyotes and wolves. Hence the name, coywolf, or woyote as some call them. Now on with the game. One of the key features of the recent batch of Play’n GO slots has been the solid visuals. Coywolf is no different and keeps the trend going with another good looking slot. Symbols are bright, and the Native American culture bursts off the screen. The traditional 5 reel, 3 row setup is surrounded by wooden framing covered in spears and carvings. The action takes place deep in a forest, and the atmospheric impact is high. It is by no means a copy, but it has shades of Rise of Maya to it. Maybe it has something to do with the special symbols, or the American mysticism perhaps? Either way, bets start at 10 p/c and max out at £/€100 per spin.

The aim of the base game is landing combinations of at least three of a kind over 50 fixed paylines. Coywolf has 10 regular pay symbols split into high and low pays. The low pays are 9-A royals shaped out of wood and topped with a tribal design. Yes, these symbols show up everywhere, but Play’n GO has made them look appealing. Premium symbols are all wild beasts such as the fox, eagle, lynx, a red beer, and a black bear. Symbol values are low, with the two premium bears netting just 1.6 times the stake from five of a kind. Better returns come from the two wilds, the Coywolf Wild at 6x, and the Alpha Wild at 30 times the stake. The wilds also substitute for regular pay symbols. Stacked Coywolf Wilds can appear on reels 2 and 4 during the base game and Prey Free Spins.

RTP varies from 94.3% - 96.31% depending on how the provider has set the game up. Play’n GO has rated the volatility at 10/10. That setting and the low-value symbols can produce some tough gaming, but rewards are there. While the best returns are possible from the bonus game, the base game isn’t a complete write-off. This is thanks to some clever features which can turn a session around in an instant.

Coywolf Cash: Slot Features

One of the most desirable symbols in the game is the Mask Scatter. It only appears on the middle reel, and just one is required to activate the Wild Reel. There are two tiers to the Wild Reel. The first tier appears during the base game and Prey Free Spins. The second one, the more lucrative tier, is only possible during Prey Free Spins. When the first tier Wild Reel is triggered, a new reel appears and spins horizontally. It contains only Alpha Wild symbols or crosses (blank spaces). When it stops spinning, any Alpha Wild in view, spreads down to make the whole row beneath wild. Up to three can land during the base game.

The Totem Symbol is the scatter and 3, 4, or 5 of these award 8, 11, or 15 Prey Free Spins respectively. If the Wild Reel is activated during Prey Free Spins, then it spins twice to achieve best results. The Mask Symbol can also appear on the Wild Reel during the bonus game. When it lands it activates the second tier. Now, it is possible to land up to 4 Alpha Wilds as well as Coywolf Wilds with x2, x4, and x7 multipliers attached. It also means Totem Scatters can appear with +2 and +4 spins. Technically, there is no limit to the number of Free Spins.

Coywolf Cash: Slot Verdict
There is no shortage of North American wildlife games on the market. But, Play’n GO has managed to cook up something relevant with Coywolf Cash that stands out. Importantly, it is highly playable with decent rewards to go with it. The base game might not be super exciting with all the low-value symbols, but the Wild Reel keeps you guessing. What makes Coywolf Cash a juicy prospect is the possibility of Stacked Alpha Wilds and x7 multipliers. Fill the reels with this combination, and you are looking at single spin values of 2,000 times the stake. Solid win, though why a 4,000x win cap has been slapped on the game is unclear. It is a lower figure than we usually get from Play’n GO.

Coywolf Cash would be more desirable if Play’n GO had gone wild with the max potential. It is certainly capable of threatening that cap with its unlimited Prey Free Spins and Wild Reels. Still, as far as these themed slots go, Coywolf Cash is a good one. It’s not the wildest beast on the range, but it is a dangerous one all the same. That high volatility is like a wounded animal, so approach it with care. Players into the theme will get a kick out of Coywolf Cash for sure, it is one of the better designed North American themed slots out there.
