Book of Cairo: Slot Overview
Gamzix are still flying under the radar for most players, but they are a talented bunch and we certainly hope that they will make a breakthrough at some point. They won’t do that with Book of Cairo, though, as this slot is a fairly run-of-the-mill release that brings absolutely nothing new to the table. Let’s look through all the different bits and pieces before giving you the final verdict, though – and there’s no better place to start than the slot’s playing field. It consists of 5 reels, 3 rows and 10 paylines. The theme of Book of Cairo is your classic Ancient Egypt arrangement. There are no twists or turns, so it’s something we’ve all seen before, even several times. The visuals are colorful and we like all the details in the symbols as well, but it’s honestly hard to be thrilled by another Egyptian-themed slot.

The slot’s volatility is high, so you need to be ready for a few bankroll swings here and there. At the same time, the jackpot is juicy enough at 5,000x your bet, while the hit frequency clocks in at 31%. That means that payouts keep coming quite regularly, which is good to see. The min bet of Book of Cairo is £0.10, but high rollers can risk up to £200 per game round. Finally, the theoretical RTP of Book of Cairo is 96.10%, which is on the sunny side of average.

Book of Cairo: Slot Features
The pay symbols of Book of Cairo are fully in line with what you expect from Egyptian-themed slots. There are five card ranks, from Tens to Aces, that work as the slot’s low pays, while the game’s high pays show scarabs, Anubis, and both male and female pharaohs, presumably Cleopatras. The symbol designs are rather nice, but, again, it’s nothing that we haven’t seen before. The only special symbol in Book of Cairo is the Book symbol, which works as both the game’s Wild and its Scatter. That means that it can both substitute for other symbols and trigger the Free Spins feature.

To trigger the Free Spins feature, you have to find 3 or more Book symbols on the playing field. Once you do that, you’ll receive 10 free spins that have the classic “Book of” mechanic. In other words, you’ll get one of the symbols selected as Expanding. All its instances will then automatically expand to cover full reels and even pay when not fully adjacent during the feature.

Book of Cairo: Slot Verdict
At the end of the day, Book of Cairo is a completely run-of-the-mill “Book of” slot. Playing it is more like going through the motions, so it’s hard for us to recommend this experience to anyone but the biggest fans of the “Book of” genre. The game really is that stale, so make sure that you’re okay with it before giving it a go!
